I refer to my xp pro Registry...Would any of you guys and gals who make the odd trip into your Registry, care to navigate to HKEY Current user/software/microsoft/windows/current version/Internet settings/zone map/domains. It's an eyeopener for me....I've got over 3000 or so .com,.net etc domain names and among these are loads of sites relating to porn, sex, and homosexual stuff which I don't need sitting in there! This stuff has got on there with no encouragement from me!! Do I have to go through deleting one by one? Can I just delete the whole "Domains" Key...Do I need this cr*p?

These website URL's are the sites that are entered into the Restricted Sites list. In Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options/Security/Restricted Sites and click the Sites button. The list there should match what you are seeing in the registry. The spyware websites should be listed there.
In other words, these entries are there to protect you......do not meddle with them.

Strange... I followed those instructions, and there was absolutely nothing there. It did give me the option of adding this site to the list though...

That key appears to perform a similar function to the windows 'Hosts' file. At least it does as long as you use a custom Hosts file, and then add to it as I do!

Im assuming you mean under the Domains when you open it in Regedit, They are listed in my windows 7 as mentioned above by tuftedduck and are in the IE restricted list. But I only have three which I added myself. One being the Viglink to stop the long links when I copy a link on here.
It is similar to the Host file Dave,

Thanks everybody for your input. That's a relief. Internet Explorer is mentioned. Just need to say that I don't use this. I use Firefox so does this make any difference to the result? Also, why have I got over 3000 entries in 'Domains' while you have hardly any? I mean, I don't visit any of these sites!

Hi Nob, thanks for that. I used to use spybot but got rid when I installed superantispyware. I heard somewhere that SAS did all that spybot did and more. Maybe I'll stick spybot back on. Interesting, that link...I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in seeking an answer to this. Thanks Nob...Good on you!

Glad your getting sorted Addie, it tells you how to rid the entries at the bottom by putting spybot back on and undo the immunize.

I'm an 82 year old guy who has been there, seen it, done it! Less than a year ago, I did a complete format and re install so naturally I wonder where this crap came from. I know you probably feel bad about turning this thread into banter before it's time but a little humility goes a long way......try it sometime!
