Anyway, I've been after a new car for a while now, so Monday I went to a Mercedes Benz showroom and bought one. Waiting for the number plates to be authorised and fitted and away I go.

Poor raggeddy arse me can barely afford to run my old Corsavan Bestest friend, so you still have it. This is the 1st year you've never boasted about your skill of rabbit hunting at the Quarry. I thought this was because you couldn't get there easily so you didn't go. Ratarse how are you going to keep all your friends if you haven't any rabbits to bribe them with?

I thought this was because you couldn't get there easily so you didn't go. Ratarse how are you going to keep all your friends if you haven't any rabbits to bribe them with? Ah Smudge....the old quarry! We thought that we'd lost it, last year the company that owns it (Northern Aggregates) decided to put it up for auction and wouldn't even give us preferred bidder status. Anyway, even though our club offered an extra 25k for the lease, it seems someone made a better offer. Wilf (our secretary) told me that it looked like we would be finished at the end of April. However...summat went wrong with the deal, summat about environmental issues, so we have it again at least for one more year. Beats the hell outa me why anyone else would want it, it can't be developed 'cos of what and where it is, only really any good for wabbits and fishing! Anyway, I went up there about 3 weeks ago. Oh dear, it looks nowt like the old quarry of a few years ago, that local farmer who used to come and cut the grass twice a year, he don't come anymore. Consequently, there could be a herd of deer living there and I wouldn't see them. I struggled up to my beloved ridges, that was a pain 'cos of all the brambles growing over the path. When I got up there, they are covered with clumps of ragwort about 3ft tall, almost impossible to get a clear shot. Yep, I need to spend a day there with my machete, a nice dry day. T'other problem is me, specifically my shoulder. Unfortunately, my shoulder ain't the same shape as it used to be. My rifle used to come up to my shoulder and fit snuggly. But now, 'cos that bulky bit at the top of my arm sticks out a lot more than it did, the rifle butt tends to slide off when I squeeze the trigger. I'll get it sorted eventually, but right now, that is the sorry saga of my much loved old quarry and my poorly shoulder............Amen!
