What I have found Peter, like your report is it aint branded drinks in some AIs. We went to a H10 hotel in Tenerife the year before last and that was branded, Johnny Walker scotch. etc many moons ago if I drunk spirits it was Scotch, never really liked Irish, and good/passable local brewed Scotch neveseemed to exist abroad. In my youth it was mostly pints. Nowadays it's a starter beer then either gin & tonic or Bloody Marys. Being vodka and Gin based drinks if there's no brand name available the local gins are quite appealing and the Tomato Juice masks the taste of a poor vodka. I never really worry about brand names if they're there at equivalent prices I'll use em but if not I'm not particularly bothered. Surprisingly I could get some good Guinness abroad but rarely in England for whatever reason.

We usually start to drink about 1pm, a few jugs of sangria at the pool bar then in the evening wine with dinner then I usually go for Cider on Ice Magners if they have it or John smiths smooth, then finish the night with a few scotches. But I don't know what the Greeks sup apart from ouzo so that will be an experience.

But I don't know what the Greeks sup apart from ouzo so that will be an experience. Watch out drinking Ouzo nob. I've been to Cyprus 3 times and each time I've enjoyed a few Ouzos but nob they vary enormously in "proof", strength. so cheek it if your drinking out. I'd only 3 one early evening outing and don't remember the rest off the night. OK the barman poured generous measures, I'd questioned him about the assumed strength of Ouzo so he was proving a point. I'd had 3 ouzos before but not with that result so when I went back the next day he showed me 3 bottles of Ouzo at 3 different strengths so nob be warned and stay on the right side of the Ouzo pourer.

Thought so, not too keen on Pernod. But i'll see whats what when im there. The Greeks might have the arse on if the talks today go against them. They might think sod it and give booze away for free.

If you are wine oriented try the local RETSINA, its an aquired taste (unfortunately I aquired it), difficult to get here but it has been seen in some wine shops.
