Followed a 'suggestion' on the ASUS member forum for a way of updating the eee to WPA2....
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
now the wireless upgrade wont install thru add/remove. How do I repair the packages (tried synaptic), or remove the updates/upgrade and try again?

Start again from scratch mate - if I'm not mistaken sudo is the wrong command for what you want to do !
Can't find what I think is the right one at the moment - when I do I will let you know !!

Reet! it's back to 'factory settings' so how do I get specific upgrades/updates? is it 'sudo apt-get skype-update' for example? or 'sudo apt-get wpa-upgrade'? probably wont be that easy..... but thought I'd ask

Skype-update worked, not trying the WPA-upgrade yet.

If what you did worked for one - it should work for all ! Can't comment on WPA because I don't use it All I have is 128bit WEP and MAC filtering !! ( That way the router will only allow my wireless adapters to connect )!!!
