What PDF reader do you have ? I use Foxit reader and use the "Document" tab - then "Go to Page" - then enter the page number. There's also a Page selecter at the left hand side (2nd icon down) It is more like a Powerpoint than a PDF though I use Foxit too Ade. I'll try again when I have time!

Dave ;D Wireless connection Open Application>Accessories>Terminal Then type this in sudo ifconfig wlan0 up You can also copy paste that, because linux command line is way more advanced. It will then ask for your password. Type it in, you are ready to go. Had the same problem like your, worked after finding this. Thanks Kabith...I'll give it a try!!

Well...it seems that this lappy that I've loaded Linux on, isn't w/less enabled despite having the icon and keypad showing the w/less symbol! The lappy is 7yrs old and has only ever been used with a wired connection! This old lappy doesn't belong to me,I'd wiped the hdd for a pal,so now I'm going to wipe it again ready for him to collect!
I still have the installation disc for Linux Ubuntu, and when I get another spare machine to play with I'll put it on that one!!

I'm still fiddling around with this old Sharp lappy as my pal hasn't been round to collect it yet! So....I've got a Netgear usb w/less adapter that belongs to my son, I've tried plugging this into the Linux lappy and loading the Netgear disc, which I assume has the drivers on it, but it doesn't work! Any ideas guys 'cos I'm wondering if this o/s is really just for 'puter geeks and I'm just wasting my time messing with it!

you won't get anywhere loading the drivers off the disk, coz it's a Windows disk! Start the lappy up with the adapter plugged in / click on the icon at the top which looks like a monitor / see if it has picked up any networks.......
Also try putting a cable in as well and see if there is a connection, if there is .... click on the menu's at the top and look for the update manager and let it run !

Anyway...I've got this Dell lappy to play with. It's got a dozen or so keys missing and and it no longer had an o/s on it! So..as this lappy is w/less enabled and I also have a dell usb keyboard laying around, I thought I'd have another pop at installing ubunto on to it! I thought for one moment that it was going to work, but at the last minute the message flagged up that the on board w/less drivers (broadcom) were incompatible with ubunto! Drat....foiled again!!!

Thanks Ade, but I've abandoned the whole idea of ubunto on that laptop! I may try another distro when I've got the time, but with the better weather arriving, I have other priorities!

Thanks fellas..."How do I like it so far?" dunno really, it's so different to windows that it's a bit hard to get my head around!! However..as I like the whole concept of 'open source' stuff for t'internet, I'll defo keep one machine using Linux, and hopefully one day I'll become reasonably proficient and comfortable with using it. Couple of questions...
1...can I transfer stuff from my xp machine to the linux machine using a usb flash drive?
2...where do I go to find out which of my programs (irfanview etc) are compatible with linux?
