Hi drinkers, I am currently downloading Ubuntu. Please tell me how to install it. I am currently using XP home, and I wonder if there is any way to use ubuntu without removing XP. By the way, how is Ubuntu and Fedora compared to windows? Thanks First of all you have to burn the file to CD as an ISO image. You will need Nero, CD Burner XP, Infra Recorder etc to do so ! Next you need to enter the BIOS ( Setup) of your PC, and change the boot order so that CD/DVD comes before the Harddrive. Then restart with the Ubuntu disk in the drive, and it will run from the CD, without needing to be installed.....No harm will come to XP as a result of this ! and you also get to find out if all your hardware is supported ! On the down side, things run much slower this way. You point & click pretty much the same as XP, so you should be able to find your way ! Don't be put off by the way Ubuntu looks..........You can change just about everything !!! Installing is no real bother, and XP doesn't have to be removed........... If you decide that you want to install, post back for more info

Hi, With 30kbps, you might be better off going to the Ubuntu website, and requesting a free CD............. www.ubuntu.com/getubuntuThe full installation should be less than 4GB, and "YES" there is a way to Put it on a stick......just google " Pendrive Linux " Any idea where you know me from ?....... It's quite possible because I do get about !

If using the CD, you just power down and everything will return to normal ! You will even be prompted to remove the disk .
The installer has its own built in partition tool...Select the "Guided Resize" option and use your mouse to alter the size of the orange section which holds XP, Linux will use the rest of the drive.
I hope Dr Web helped !
