I've found something here, don't know whether this might help:


If you try powering on, and pressing F8, the boot menu should appear.

See if you can get into 'System Recovery Options'. If you can, then 'Startup Repair'.

However, at the moment this is just a guess on my part, so please hold fire.  I know it must be frustrating at present.  I am also conscious of the fact that you will have documents, media, programs etc already on there and the last thing you would want is to lose any / all of that.

If anyone else has any suggestions, go ahead.

It's been a long time since I last used W7, and I don't recall having to do any repair procedures back then, so..........
