I've been using Windows Vista since 2007 and in over 8 years I bet I have had less than 5 updates via patch Tuesday that haven't installed at the first attempt.Its served me very well tbh.

I've still got my Vista laptop as well as my Lenovo W10 laptop and it also doesn't give many problems touch woood.

I've still got my Vista laptop as well as my Lenovo W10 laptop and it also doesn't give meany problems touch woood. Lappy and desktop on W7. Netbook on Linux. All running on rails.  However, I read somewhere that W7 is being supported until 2019...after that I'm assuming that there will be no updates. Hmmm...for me that might be decision time. Over the years it's occurred to me that I don't know a single person that's switched over to a Mac, that's even considered switching back to a Windows machine. There must be a good reason for this.  So, as a Mac is basically a posh Linux machine and I ain't remotely posh, then it's my intention to make Linux (Mint) my main o/s.  There's very little that I can do on my desktop that I'm unable to do on my Netbook, admittedly I may be able to do it quicker and better on my desktop, but that's a lot to do with the higher specs of the machine. CPU, Ram etc. I will miss some progs like 'ConvertXtoDVD4' ... but I have a Linux replacement, it's just not as good! |

Tried to upgrade the lappy to 10, it stuck on 32% and 6% on drivers. There is a problem with the toshy DVD drivers, so I removed the drive and then it failed on the first boot so 10 failed and went back to 7. Changed the boot order didn't help.  Looks like im stuck on 7 till drivers for 10 come available.  |
