Wolves and all other dogs sense of smells

mo41 was avidly watching & learning about natural history while watching packs of wolves (all dogs are descended from wolves even Pavlov's) hunt and kill then eat very quickly some slow elve or deer etc...the prey was identified by its smell from its alive body and the wolves aka dogs could easily tell its age sex and if it was healthy = no cancer etc from just one sniff...
pondering over a recent same sex wedding - dogs can easily determine sex so the next ? can could they determine the ? gender of same sex participants ??
stopping now as the ice is getting very thin = can hear it cracking under the skates = curious = if anyone replies sensibly I will explain the reason for the doggy ?

Ok Alan - here goes - a year ago I was on normal anti PCa Prostate Cancer pills (= not heavy female hormone) and miss mo's dogs seemed to regard me as a male member of the pack / tribe = being male far above any female pack members but not Alpha male...but now after say 6 months on the heaviest of the heavy female hormone (= 4 pd @£25 a pop...thanks to aneurin Bevan for our NHS = no man shall die because he cannot afford to live ... yes in spades) the dogs don't regard me as anything of importance and I put this down to my new actual gender changing pills - suppose if i google all the above i may get a sensible answer??? who knows or a link to wikki..

There, I knew I'd heard that name in connection with ballet.

Thanks for the insight Mojo. I'm still intrigued, if only because there could possibly be something in your observations regarding the dogs' behaviour.

There was an article a while back that showed a dog who could sniff out cancer in a human, it was first realised when it sniffed out its owner having breast cancer I think.

Anyway our dogs can smell when the fridge door is open from a good distance away.

Many thanks for helpful replies u all good chums - my real doggy ? is could the mutts differentiate between say guests at the same sex wedding and the people getting married? Im just curious - as I understand our sense of smell is the most sensitive we have and all dogs are much more sensitive any way my curiosity is now quenched - Jal my new gender is nothing = neuter - now as far as I can tell.
Its time to take a chilled bottle of Doombar = new ? why dont Sharps put the good stuff in a can?
