Our speed is poor cos we live in the sticks I live in the depths of Cornwall, but regularly getting 60meg+. I was getting 60+ last year, but I didn't fancy paying the extra £10pm for it any more. TBH.....I don't notice any difference,(apart from in my wallet) and I suspect that Nob and Geoff wouldn't notice too much if theirs was upped to 50mps.

I live in the depths of Cornwall, but regularly getting 60meg+. Does fibre come directly to your house Dinky or are you through a cabinet. The main cabinet is about 100 yards from the house so its copper from there, I think that we were lucky when they laid it starting from Cornwall up through the country. As for the speed, with 3 adult kids and the wife all on various computers and game consoles I went for the max capacity that I could as at times I dread to think what bandwidth we are using, now with this set up I no longer get any drop off.

Im about the same distance from the cabinet, they have said 34Meg, I don't know if there's a bigger package, the Info from BT wholesale says the cabinet can have 80Meg speed.

Thats what we are on from BT, originaly it was 40meg but they upgraded us to 80meg at no extra charge. I know BT aint the cheapest but evey time there is a fault I cannot criticise their response. The last time we had a decent thunderstorm it took out the phone line, it did take a time for it to be fixed but when the engineer came round he told me that they had had to replace thousands of first in line boxes due to the storm. However cos the BB was fibre that remained in contact, I was not too worried about the landline cos we all had mobys.

Ive been with a few ISPs Tiscali took freeserve over then TT took Tiscali over that's who im with now, the only problem ive had is understanding the Indians who you end up talking to. They are sending me a TV box I told them I don't want one but as its free they are sending it.

Be careful with TT we were with tiscali for years, the speed was extremely unreliable then we switched to BT. My neighbour over the road was with them when she switched, it too them ages to sort out the mess they left, they even threatened her with court action over unpaid bills that she did not owe. Now if TT roll up on the door wanting me to switch they get a mouthfull. I would never go with them again.

Nob I've been with them for 3 years and at the start they were a bit patchy but like you I've no real complaints. Why do you not want the U View TV box especially since it's "FREE" The box is free but there's a £25 fitting charge. I dunno how I survived without one? The one big advantage is you can buy Sky Sports for £40 a month, the subscription, £40 is for one month's viewing and you can renew it or ditch it monthly. Great for special events like The Lions rugby tours or the Ryder Cup. No Sky disc required it all comes through your router. I used it for 2 months last summer and it worked well even when I was downloading at around about 3 Mbps I would recommend TalkTalk broadband to anyone especially since over the last 4 months it shows 12+ Mbps download speed every time I check it.

And pray tell Smudger, this TT box thingy, did it also manage to convince you that the England footy team could actually play the game? A wondrous piece of kit indeed if it did!

I didn't really need the TT box to see the English team trying to learn how to play football because it was on terrestrial TV and nobody in their right mind would really want to tape them. Still if your children misbehaved you could punish them by making them watch the England v Uraguay match until they promised to be good forever and ever. Should take about 15 to 30 minutes.

WTF is wrong with this place, it's been playing up ever since I logged in this morning! I thought it was just me when It posts twice, Peter, they are sending the box and im installing it. They wanted £18 for a wireless connection box, my sky has one to connect to the router wirelessly. I watch TV though sky mostly that's why I didn't want one. Ill have a scout round the net and get a wireless box for it so it can connect to the router. Update, looking on the support board the cloudflare thingy was being attacked. Performance degradation at Amsterdam -"Mitigating attack hitting AMS.". CloudFlare announced it about an hour ago it seems and 56seks ago "Still working on the attack in AMS. Its also affecting customers in LHR.". It seems to be sorted now.
