I don't trust em. Used one once and it deleted the Winsock.

I don't trust em. Used one once and it deleted the Winsock. Nob, most of them, and Eusing is one, automatically make a registry back up before deleting anything. I've used them and never had a problem.

I think so Nob, not too often though. I run the 'Auslogics' one about once a year. It's amazing how much rubbish collects in the registry.
I run it, look to see what it's deleting, and then let it do it's thing. As I said, there's a reg back up automatically made.

So Nob, just to demonstrate, I've just opened my Auslogics registry cleaner and ran a scan. It found 168 problems, 'file associations, invalid shortcuts etc'. It made a back up and deleted them, then told me that my puter efficiency was now at 100%..........(risen by 1%)
I looked in the 'File' > 'Rescue Centre' and it showed this back up, plus the previous one from the scan I ran in August. It also showed the standard windows restore points.
I dunno what went wrong with your one, but I've used several including the Ccleaner one without a problem. This Auslogics one came out top when I checked on the 'Best Freeware etc site, and I think that it probably is the best!

I use Ccleaner but I've never ran its reg cleaner. Seeing as I have backups on the new HDD I'll give yours a shot and see what it says. Thanks Dave and Matt.

Turned the PC on and where there was three profiles on it I was the only one. Restored the old Reg and all is fine again. Don't trust em and am never going to run one again. Got rid of Eusing never to darken the PC again.

I run the 'Auslogics' one about once a year. It's amazing how much rubbish collects in the registry. I took my best friends advice and tried to download Auslogics reg cleaner. It only downloads on PCs with a resolution setting greater than 1024X700 which isn't really acceptable to a 12" monitor but even using that resolution the "FREE" Auslogics Reg Cleaner found a lot of problems then directed me to a paid for page to repair them. Ratarse as far as this thick Irishman is concerned that is not a free registry cleaner and wether it backs up it's changes or not is not in this case an advantage. When was the last time tou ran your FREE Auslogics cleaner and is it still free?

Aint that different to what MrMatt posted. Whats screen size to do with it anyway??? Yep, MrMatt was talking about 'Eusing' which I also once used. But in my second post, I mentioned 'Auslogic' which I now use, simply because in my opinion it is both the best and also the safest. Damned if I know what the screen resolution has to do with it!
