Fast innit Hi Ive tried linux distros on older computers, which I felt were much quicker but on a win8 machine it must be like lightning |

Fast innit The words 'rats and drainpipes' spring to mind innit. When you get into it Geoff, it's mega customisable. Desktop, taskbar etc all can be made to look different. Have a play...it's fun. |

Ok Craigy, in 'Menu'...open 'System' then 'Control Centre' then under 'Hardware' click on 'keyboard' Go to the 'Layouts' tab. If there it shows US ....click the 'Add' button and scroll to the UK setting and add that. Done, thanks Davey boy. Craig. |

As I said, I've tried mint & not had any probs with it so far, but the sound output jack on my laptop no longer works. The sound card works OK as I still have sounds from the lappy's speakers. Very strange.

Assuming that you haven't already done so ( and that may be doing you s disservice) I'd try another set of 'phones before looking for dry joints and broken wires, but we're on the right lines because it does seem like a hardware issue. I'm just thinking that the headphones are hardware too and they are quite fragile components.
