how do i reformat the windows partition in fedora? This is for my lappy Not sure what you're getting at......but perhaps this will help !! Regardless of whether you have Fedora installed or not on the lappy, Boot from the CD so you are running a Live session.....You will then need a partition manager, and the good news is that there are plenty of free Linux ones Open the Add/Remove software and type "Partition" in the search box. Install Gparted ( or whichever one you like the look of ) Use Google to find the relevent website for the tool ( Instructions etc ) You should then be able to make any required changes to your partition table Move, Resize, Format, Delete etc. Remember: You need to be running a "Live Session" ( from disk !!!! ) in order to make changes to the harddrive......In other words....The harddrive has to be in what's called an Unmounted state, in order for changes to be made I'm glad you like Fedora.....It works fine on my little Aspire One But on one of my desktops It's a total nogo regarding the graphics card In many ways, Ubuntu is by far the better choice......But if you're happy with it....Thats great !!! Welcome to the world of free & open source software

What is it that you are trying to install ?
You may not need to work with a tar file !

I would have thought that it was just a case of opening a terminal ( command prompt in windows ) and then typing
sudo yum install songbird
I'm not using Fedora at the moment, because I much prefer Ubuntu which is a Debian linux as opposed to a RPM.
You would be better off posting on the Fedora forum ! and then posting a how-to here at the squatters !
It may be something that others would be interested in at a later date. If on the other hand, you would like me to look into it for you... just let me know and I will !

How do I scan for wireless networks in Ubuntu?

To make the SWAP partition larger: Load a live CD ( doesn't have to be Ubuntu ! ) and run the partition tool....G-Parted etc...... Shrink one of the other partitions to make some space and then increase the SWAP. Best option is to have more RAM though !!! and forget about the SWAP altogether ! Wireless Networks: It should just be a case of clicking on the connection icon, and select what you want from the menu. The problem may be that the network adapter isn't compatible with Ubuntu........ If this is the case - all is not lost !! you can still configure it yourself ! This may help..... help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper?highlight=(ndiswrapper)help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupportedhelp.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessTroubleShootingGuideA lot of reading material I know, but pretty much everything to do with wireless issues is there ! Am I Chinese: No....I just studied the classics How much RAM do you have installed ? and what is the spec.........

RAM 384 MB AMD Sempron Mobile 1.7 Ghz. Okay, the RAM sucks, but I am lazy to go buy one. Also, I am going to buy another lappy.
