Are there any experts in this subject who could come away from the bar to answer a few intricate questions ?

Well here goes,Nob. Just got a Humax "Free Time" HD satellite set top box.Hooked up and all,and working well. It can be connected to the internet by an eth. cable, but as my router is pretty far away from the TV,I would prefer to use a Home Plug.I already have Home plugs in use to connect with my upstairs Desktop PC. My wife,s laptop connects by wi fi I am using Devolo 200 plugs Q1.As I have some spare H.Plugs which are of a different make and only 85 rather than 200,could I use one of them at the TV socket ? Q2.Could I cause any damage if I tried it out ? Q3.If it is not "compatible" is it possible to buy just one Devolo plug---they always seem to come in packs of 2,and are not cheap ? Q4. Might it be possible,or better, to buy a dongle for the Tv,(or would it be the set topbox) and use wi fi ? Any help appreciated
No pint for you,Dave, unless you come up with the goods !

Pierre
My PC and TV are in different rooms so the settop YouView box and my PC router are connected through the electric system's wires. This was set up by a TalkTalk "engineer" and they charged me £35 for the two special plugs used. These plugs were made in China Input rating 100-240 volts, 13 amps, Output rating 250v max, 13 amps.
I dunno if this helps but that's what I got and it works perfectly.

Thanks again Nob--and now Peter. I wondered about the wi fi dongle approach, but they seem to be expensive too--circa £30. To be wise after the event is annoying. If only I had bought the White set top box instead of the Black box,I would have got wi fi built in ! I am going to try one of my probably incompatible Home plugs as an experiment unless any of you tell me "DONT"

I did try it this morning,on up came a message on the screen "Connecting"Eventually the screen produced a graphic which showed me my IP address, and my "NET MAX CODE" Then it asked me for my "gateway address" which appears to be 4 numbers.and for my "primary DNS",(also 4 boxes) and again my "secondary DNS" Anybody any ideas how I find out these ? When my g/children want to use my router for their phones I am able to give them my wireless networkname and my wireless key,but that is all they require
