I had to go into town this morning. The sun was shining and it was pleasantly warm, so when I'd finished my business, I decided to walk home instead of jumping on the bus! It was so nice, I decided to walk back along the riverside. I started from near to the De Montfort Uni buildings in the centre of the city. It's a sodding long walk but I really enjoyed it, 'cos as I reached the southern stretches of the river, I found myself stopping and thinking "I remember fishing at this spot when I was a boy!" and remembering wandering along the banks with my air rifle! If I tried that now the ARU would be all over me like a £5 suit! Anyway..it was a trip down memory lane that I'll do again soon.

This time last year I got frog spawn in the fish pond, I removed some before the fish ate it and saved it in a fish tank, There is a corner in the garden where I had a greenhouse, so I decided to sell it, (got £180 on ebay ) and build a nature pond. Excavated a 6 foot hole 2 feet deep bought a liner and filled with water and planted up, Put 4 sticklebacks in and they soon turned to hundreds. Put the tadpoles that had hatched by now into it and they soon turned into frogs. Yesterday frogspawn appeared in the pond, today 5 frogs are spawning,

bet you soon don't have any slugs in the garden. My mother lived in a house with a completely walled round back garden, and she had a couple of frogs living there for years (since there was no way for them to get out ;D) and we never saw a slug there once. Wish I could say the same for my garden, they're massive black ones, horrible

We filled our tiny pond in when they started to crawl!

Brilliant nob, wish we had a garden big enough to do that - having said that we'd have to wait a few years until our little uns grow up a bit. We filled our tiny pond in when they started to crawl! Gus your living in today's world and spoiling your kids. We couldn't afford ponds so my dad took me to our river and threw me in. He watched closely until I climbed out and stated how disappointed he was I hadn't brought a salmon out with me. Gus it's like the PC safety thread I posted about yesterday we're all overdoing safety and seeing problems where none exist because our paranoid minds exclude logic. My brother has an open pond in his garden and 2 children now he has got 3 grandchildren do I need to say anything more? How did we all survive 40 years ago without all safety regulations that exist now? Life was more interesting then having to go out defying danger and playing in open spaces with your school friends. Of course there were disagreements and fights and if you gave Johnnie a black eye in one of them you could be sure his parents wouldn't take you to court. I'm glad I was a child years ago with the devil may care enjoyment and not one of the present you can't do that it could be legally bank draining. Children today don't have a life they're house bound and TV/puter zoombies. Just think 20 years from now these crack heads might be governing us. I probably will miss their excesses but some of you will have to live with poorly reared children governing you. Discipline and love, freedom and anarchy. Comments please
